Vinod Bavishi

Bio:
Vinod B. Bavishi, Founder and Director of Research of FinGlobe, Inc., has spent over 30 years creating and enhancing global company fundamental databases.

He holds a Ph.D. in international business and finance, a Masters in Accounting from Ohio State University and an MBA in finance from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He has also attained the professional certifications of CPA, CFA and CMA.

Dr. Bavishi was born in Ahmedabad, India and came to US as a graduate student under the Indian Government’s merit-based loan/scholarship program in 1970. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1986.

Dr. Bavishi has compiled and published studies such as International Accounting and Auditing Trends (4 editions) and Global Company Handbook (3 editions).

He was also an architect of the Worldscope database, which was co-produced with Wright Investors Service in Bridgeport, CT and Center for International Financial and Analysis Research (an independent research group Dr. Bavishi started while he was in academia).

Since creating Worldscope between 1987 and 1990, Dr. Bavishi has helped various global financial database companies (Standard & Poors, Financial Times, Reuters etc.) by providing international company data from his vast historical archives.

Prior to this, Dr. Bavishi was a tenured Associate Professor of Finance and Accounting at the University of Connecticut from 1979 to 1990. In academia, he authored or co-authored three books, as well as 10 articles in academic and professional journals. He has also presented his research at 45+ academic/professional conferences worldwide on the analysis of international financial statements.

To undertake research on international financial statements, Dr Bavishi was based in Kobe, Japan between 1990-1992 to study Japanese companies and in Ahmedabad, India from 1992-1995 to study emerging markets.

Dr. Bavishi has worked 10 years in public accounting and industry (Price Waterhouse 1973-75, Borden Inc 1971-73, and 5 years in an Indian bank and a textile company) before starting his academic work.

Dr. Bavishi's current research involves restating financial statements of companies worldwide in USGAAP and IAS.
